Essential Oils Used and Why

Chamomile – Used for relaxation and tranquillity.  Mixes well with jasmine, neroli, geranium and lavender.  Used in massage oils is known to have a relaxing and a stress relieving quality.

Calendula – More commonly known as Pot Marigold.  Healing properties.

Frankincense – An aromatic gum resin, use essential for aromatherapy and perfumes.

Rose Geranium – Assists with inflammation, burns and eczema

Lavender – Almost everyone knows the smell of lavender and the oil extracted has been used as home remedy for years.  Often used in water for cosmetics.  Generally the most versatile of essential oils.

Ylang Ylang – A powerful intensely sweet but soft floral aroma.  Assist in relaxing the body mind and spirit.

Camellia –Tea Seed Oil – not tea tree oil. High in vitamin E and antioxidants.

Shea butter – Shea Nut butter – Natural fat extracted from the fruit by crushing and boiling. Skin softening effect.

Zinc Oxide – used as a pigment it reflects both UVA and UVB rays. To protect against sunburn caused by ultraviolet light.

Neroli Bigarade –  Orange flower is said to Assist with problems of an emotional nature

Rosehip Oil – High is a source of Vitamin C, assists with healing, scaring and burns.

Jasmine – Considered to be the finest of all essential oils.  Used widely in perfumes and fragrances.  Said to have a wonderful positive effects on emotions, helps relieve anxiety and depression.  Can be used directly on neck or wrists as a perfume.

 

Parabens – A chemical widely used as a preservative and are effective in many formulas.  Can be found in shampoos, moisturisers, shaving gel, spray tans and toothpastes.

Preservatives are to prevent decomposition by microbial growth or undesirable chemical changes.
